The Swiss Conspiracy
Description: This enjoyable caper was filmed entirely on location in Zurich. A Swiss bank is being blackmailed, and American ex-US Treasury agent Christopher (1970s TV star David Jannsen) is hired to find out who's behind it. An aging but virile guy who wears his wide-collar polyester shirt open to show his graying chest hairs, Jannsen is a great retro-hero. Senta Berger is his attractive Swiss love interest; she likes to drive fast cars in the Alps. Ray Milland, very old, but still holding it together nicely, plays the worried president of the bank. Elke Sommer and John Saxon are also involved, and clearly their business is shady. There are lots of chases, fistfights, and shoot-outs amid the alpine scenery, and it's all set to an irresistible funk-fusion score by Klaus Doldinger (DAS BOOT). The plot of this conspiracy has more holes than the cheese that bears its name, but as 1970's-style action kitsch, it's also a lot of fun. Sci-Fi legend Jack Arnold (CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, TARANTULA) directed from a screenplay by a team that includes Phillip Saltzman.
